The Director of Human Resources is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing HR functions across all operating companies nationwide. This role serves as the critical link between Headquarters (HQ) and the Operating Company (OpCo) HR teams, ensuring consistency in HR strategy, compliance, and execution. The Director will lead regional HR teams to support business goals, drive alignment across the enterprise, and foster a strong, unified company culture while respecting local autonomy. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, influential leader with deep HR expertise, multi-state experience, and the ability to manage in a complex, decentralized structure. Position Summary

Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
Oversee and guide HR operations across all OpCos, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, values, and compliance standards. Act as a liaison between HQ functional HR (e.g., Payroll, Total Rewards, Compliance, Systems) and field HR teams to facilitate communication, best practice sharing, and coordinated execution of HR programs. Partner with executive and regional leadership to understand operational needs and deliver HR solutions tailored to each business while maintaining overall consistency and compliance.
Regional HR Team Oversight
Lead, coach, and develop a team of Regional HR leaders across multiple states. Promote consistency in HR policies, employee relations practices, onboarding, performance management, and compliance standards across all OpCos. Ensure HR teams are effectively supporting both tactical and strategic needs of local leadership. Facilitate succession planning and talent development across OpCos.
Employee Relations
Oversee complex and sensitive employee relations matters across all regions, ensuring consistency, fairness, and legal compliance. Support and guide regional HR teams in conducting investigations, addressing workplace complaints, and navigating disciplinary or performance-related actions. Coach OpCo leaders and HR professionals on conflict resolution, employee engagement strategies, and effective documentation. Promote positive employee relations and a respectful, inclusive work environment throughout all levels of the organization.
Policy and Process Consistency
Standardize HR practices across the organization while allowing for necessary regional flexibility based on local laws and business needs. Lead integration efforts following acquisitions, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with corporate HR standards.
Collaboration and Communication
Maintain strong, proactive communication with HQ HR leaders, OpCo executives, and field HR professionals. Represent field HR perspectives in corporate-level planning and decision-making. Regularly engage with OpCo HR teams through in-person visits and virtual check-ins.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. PHR or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred. A minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior strategic role in a large organization (7,000+ employees). Strong understanding of employment law and compliance across multiple U.S. states. Demonstrated success leading HR strategy and operations in a fast-paced, complex environment. Deep knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, compliance, and organizational development. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and change management skills. Ability to travel up to 30% to visit operating companies and regional HR teams.
