SOURCE Climate Solutions is building the Operating System for Climate Infrastructure—a digital twin-powered platform enabling context-specific, AI-driven decarbonization across real-world assets. Through our Athena Accelerator, we partner with commercial real estate owners to identify, design, and implement retrofit projects and services that are verifiable, intelligent, and financially sound. We are a small early stage start up founded out of Stanford University. We are not a commodity ESCO. We embed forward-deployed engineers to eliminate the "hassle tax," integrate data streams, and build trust by delivering impact—not promises. Role Overview We are hiring entrepreneurial California-based Commercial Building Energy Engineer to lead field audits, develop retrofit scopes, and act as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll work alongside SOURCE’s analytics and digital twin platform, contributing to a product that redefines how retrofit decisions are made and verified. Responsibilities Conduct on-site ASHRAE Level II+ energy audits across commercial buildings (HVAC, lighting, controls, envelope, etc.) Identify and quantify energy efficiency, electrification, and DER (solar + storage) retrofit opportunities Support data collection and integration into the SOURCE Digital Twin platform Collaborate with our retrofit analytics team to validate virtual models with field data Develop detailed, decision-ready audit reports including technical scopes, financial metrics (e.g., IRR, NPV), and implementation roadmaps Provide engineering advisory during vendor RFP processes and implementation phases Communicate findings clearly with building owners, property managers, and other stakeholders Required Qualifications Dedicated to fighting the climate crisis 3–10 years of experience conducting energy audits for commercial buildings Systems-level thinking around building operations, comfort, and decarbonization strategy Willingness to travel across California and Pacific Northwest for on-site audits Deep knowledge of California building systems, Title 24, and energy code compliance Proficient with building modeling tools, energy performance contracting, and project financing Familiarity with utility data analysis, interval metering, and load profiling Experience with grid-interactive efficient buildings or DER integration Compensation 0.1% – 1.5% equity Performance-based incentives tied to energy savings and customer success metrics Health insurance sourceclimatesolutions.net Seniority level
