As the
Marketing Lead for the Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub: Ohio , you’ll play a key role in increasing awareness, engagement, and participation across the regional and national defense innovation ecosystem. In this position, you will lead the planning and execution of the Hub’s monthly Collider Series and other events, support digital outreach and communications, and help maintain a dynamic, welcoming innovation space. This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role that blends creativity, logistics, and mission alignment in support of DoD innovation priorities.
In This Role, You Will
Event Planning & Execution (60%)
Plan and coordinate logistics for the OnRamp Hub’s monthly Collider Series, including venue setup, speaker coordination, catering, registration, and post-event follow-up. Support the execution of additional events such as roundtables, partner programming, and innovation engagements. Maintain event calendars and ensure timely promotion across communication channels. Track attendance and collect feedback to improve future events. Ensure event materials align with the OnRamp Hub’s brand and mission.
Communications & Outreach Support (30%)
Draft and schedule content for social media, email campaigns, and event announcements. Help manage stakeholder contact lists and contribute to monthly newsletters and updates. Collaborate with internal teams to highlight success stories and program outcomes. Assist with the development of flyers, signage, and other collateral using branded templates.
Space Coordination & Support (10%)
Help manage the day-to-day logistics of the OnRamp Hub physical space, ensuring it remains a professional, collaborative environment. Support guest check-in, signage, space prep, and supply management for events or partner visits. Foster a welcoming experience that reflects the innovation-forward energy of the Hub.
We’re Looking For Someone Who
Holds a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, event management, or a related field. Has 1–3 years of professional experience in event coordination, communications, or administrative support. Brings strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Communicates clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing. Is comfortable using digital tools like Canva, Eventbrite, Mailchimp, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office. Can manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with DoD, government, or startup innovation ecosystems (e.g., DIU, AFWERX, SBIR/STTR). Experience working in coworking spaces, higher education, or community-based programming. Design or content creation experience using tools such as Canva or Adobe Express. Interest in national security, dual-use tech, or mission-driven innovation. Experience supporting hybrid or livestreamed events.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This is an
on-site
role based in
Columbus, OH , with occasional local travel to support events or engagements.
Requirements Include
Mobility & Setup: Ability to walk short distances, lift light objects, and help with event setups. Vision & Hearing: Clear vision and hearing for reading materials, managing event logistics, and supporting AV equipment. Manual Dexterity: Regular use of computer, mouse, and digital tools. Posture: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during events. Cognitive Skills: Strong multitasking, attention to detail, and adaptability in dynamic environments.
