As the

Managing Director of the Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub: Ohio , you will serve as the senior leader responsible for the strategic, operational, and organizational success of one of the nation's key defense innovation engines. You’ll shape the vision, lead cross-sector collaborations, and oversee program execution that accelerates the adoption of dual-use technologies by the Department of Defense (DoD). This role requires an experienced and trusted leader who can align ecosystem partners, manage complex initiatives, and scale mission impact through high-visibility engagement and execution.

In This Role, You Will

Operational Leadership (50%)

Lead and implement the OnRamp Hub: Ohio strategic plan, overseeing all programs and initiatives. Set direction and integrate programmatic planning with resource management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder alignment. Represent OnRamp Hub to federal agencies, defense leaders, and national innovation stakeholders. Deliver compelling briefings and communications to raise awareness and promote participation in OnRamp Hub efforts.

Program Execution & Planning (30%)

Oversee day-to-day program operations, lead internal meetings, and ensure timely and accurate reporting. Manage program financials with transparency, reviewing and approving invoices and budget usage. Maintain compliance with contract and reporting requirements while upholding ethical standards.

Stakeholder Engagement (20%)

Act as the senior engagement lead, cultivating high-trust relationships with DoD acquisition entities, innovation hubs, and national partners. Align with statewide partners—including universities, accelerators, and economic development organizations—to expand OnRamp Hub’s reach. Represent Parallax and OnRamp Hub at major events, roundtables, trade shows, and national consortia, promoting mission alignment and ecosystem visibility.

We’re Looking For Someone Who

Holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BA/BS or MA/MS) in a relevant field. Brings 7–10 years of experience in defense, government innovation, or technology program leadership. Has a proven track record of building and sustaining relationships across government, industry, and academia. Communicates with clarity and confidence across sectors and seniority levels. Thrives in dynamic environments and manages complex, multi-stakeholder projects. Demonstrates strong resource management, scheduling, and operational planning capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing large-scale, multi-stakeholder initiatives in the defense innovation ecosystem. Familiarity with DIU, AFWERX, NSIN, NavalX, or similar DoD innovation organizations. Understanding of dual-use tech transition, TRLs, and commercialization pathways. Knowledge of defense acquisition processes (FAR and Non-FAR), and SBIR/STTR programs. Experience building innovation ecosystems and partnerships with startups, VCs, and accelerators. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (Secret or above).

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This is an

on-site

position based in

Columbus, OH , with travel up to

35% . The role may involve attending meetings with DoD installations, innovation stakeholders, and partner institutions.
