We have an immediate opening for a
Manager, Database Administration . LA-based company is seeking a seasoned Manager of Database Administration. Reporting to the Vice President, Information Technology, this position is responsible for the management and availability of the Company’s production Microsoft SQL Server clusters and will oversee a team of DBAs responsible for supporting them. The company seeks a manager who is not only an expert on the technology and high-performance database design but also adept at managing high-achieving teams, developing database standards, and hands-on troubleshooting of SQL Server performance issues. Responsibilities include:
Lead the development of standards, processes, and procedures (creating KBs, runbooks, topology) and ensure operational consistency. Develop operations to optimize performance, availability, and scalability of all critical database environments. Lead troubleshooting of database performance or stability issues. Identify sub-optimal database architecture, design, or operational practices and lead projects to improve them. Create monitoring standards and practices for complete visibility of database operations and infrastructure. Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. At least 7 years supporting MSSQL server in high availability, high transaction OLTP environments, with 5+ years managing DBAs. Excellent root cause analysis and impact assessment skills. Strong analytical skills for performance issue analysis. Knowledge of SQL Server engine operation, architecture, troubleshooting core issues. Experience with AlwaysOn, clustering, mirroring, transactional replication. Proficiency in index management, integrity checks, configuration, partitioning, and understanding of statistics and index storage. Experience with SQL Server monitoring and performance tools (Profiler, DTA, SSMS, etc.). Ability to write, review, and troubleshoot SQL code (stored procedures, functions, triggers, indexes). Knowledge of Windows Server, security, storage systems. Experience migrating SQL Server to big data solutions is a plus. EOE/M/F/Vet/Disability Additional details:
