3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Assistant to the Director, New Day Urban Ministries Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt Accountability: Reports to the Director of New Day Urban Ministries Effective Date: Open Purpose: The Assistant to the Director is responsible for supporting New Day Urban Ministries day- to-day administrative and programmatic operations. The position ensures smooth coordination between staff, volunteers, donors, and clients. It assists with communication, scheduling, data management, and service logistics, allowing the Director to focus on vision, strategy, and external relations. Administrative Support Supervise day-to-day operations internally. Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and greet visitors. Maintain and organize ministry files and records. Prepare reports, forms, and internal communications as requested. Support the Director in organizing the Steering Committee documentation and logistics. Fill in for the Director as needed, including appointments, meetings, and travel. Program Support Coordinate volunteer scheduling and training logistics. Track inventory of supplies (hygiene kits, clothing, food) and support donation processing. Maintain clean and welcoming client service areas. Perform case management as needed. Support staff and volunteers with daily setup and tear-down for ministry services. Communications and Outreach Assist in gathering client stories and assets for external communications such as newsletters, website, social media, and ministry updates. Assist with marketing and materials for events and campaigns, thank you letters, etc. Data and Records Management Maintain up-to-date records of client services, volunteer hours, and donor interactions. Assist with compiling data for quarterly and annual reporting. Track and organize in-kind donations and acknowledgments. Event and Meeting Support Assist in planning and executing community outreach events and special ministry programs. Coordinate logistics and hospitality for meetings, trainings, and visitor groups. Facility Support Notify the Director of facility-related needs and coordinate maintenance vendors as directed. Ensure break rooms, storage, and client service areas remain orderly and functional. General Perform any other duties which support the ministry as assigned by the Director. Qualifications Associate degree (A.A.) or higher required; bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred. Must be eligible and willing to become a Notary Public in the State of California within 6 months of hire (training support may be provided). Strong interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills. Familiarity with nonprofit work or social ministry preferred. Able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a dynamic, service-oriented environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable. Commitment to serving with compassion and a Christ-centered attitude.
