Senior API Developer (Java/AWS)
for a project based in Smithfield, RI, with a projected start date of 09-23-2025 and end date of 05-31-2027.
The team operates primarily remotely, with initial onboarding and occasional meetings onsite in Rhode Island. The project involves developing an Externalized Service Center Inquiry API to enable firms to access status information on Service Center work items without logging into the portal. This includes defining API contracts, application development, testing, deployment on AWS, and ensuring security, scalability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, test, and deploy the API
Define and adhere to API contracts
Design secure, scalable APIs with robust error handling
Implement security measures such as OAuth 2.0, API keys, RBAC, and HTTPS
Utilize AWS services like EKS, auto-scaling, and load balancers
Integrate with existing data sources and systems
Document API functionality and provide developer support
Participate in automated deployment pipelines
Collaborate effectively within an Agile team and guide junior developers
Required Technical Skills
Java, REST API, Spring Framework / Spring Boot
AWS cloud services, EKS, Terraform
SQL, API Security (OAuth 2.0, API keys, RBAC), JSON
Datadog, Jenkins
Additional Skills & Experience
Experience with Fidelity's API processes is preferred
Experience in large enterprise environments is advantageous
Effective communication and proactive information seeking
Location Based in Rhode Island. Remote work is acceptable, with some onsite presence for onboarding and meetings. Smithfield is preferred.
