What You’ll Be Responsible For In This Role
The QC Lab Lead will coach, train and provide direction as needed to the QC Lab and Sampling Technicians located in the QC Lab. This lead will also support the Quality/Lab Manager in the development, maintenance and implementation of the quality and food safety programs. Review, prioritize, and plan maintenance log according to business needs.
Ensure all sampling frequencies are being met by QC Lab and Sampling Technicians Provide coaching to employees as needed based on task performance Report out of specification results and escalate as needed Ensure QC Lab and Sampling Technicians reports are accurate and data entered in a timely manner Create COA based on test results and customer requirements Ensure compliance to specifications, methods and procedures through observation of employees and document review Maintain records of lab equipment Performs microbiological/ATP swabbing/environmental monitoring of plant equipment and facilities as needed if QC Lab and/or Sampling Technicians are unavailable Perform sample collection, NI quality inspections and retain sampling and review as needed if QC Lab and/or Sampling Technicians are unavailable. Conduct record sign off Conduct verification of lab SOPs and provide coaching and recommendations for improvement as needed. Verification - maintain records of laboratory equipment Familiar with Lab SOPs, facility GMPs and NI Sampling requirement to ensure compliance across within the lab Assist or perform other duties/projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
High School Diploma or equivalent; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Excel, Word, etc. Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includes maintaining a clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check.
Required Skills And Abilities
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to accuracy and precision Ability to work cross-functionally with other departments and with outside companies including labs and shipping teams Ability to work alone and as part of a team to ensure the department goals, accuracy, and timeliness and cost effectiveness are met Must be self-motivated and can perform multiple tasks Ability to communicate in English including writing, speaking, and reading, reasonable Spanish desired but not mandatory Detail oriented and have a good writing ability for clear record keeping Utilize Bolthouse Farms standard operating procedures to prepare and/or analyze various parameters including good laboratory practices and aseptic techniques Dependable and can work flexible hours including weekends
Preferred Qualifications
1-2 years’ experience in food manufacturing or food production preferred
Physical Demands
Environmental exposure - cold/wet conditions (40 ° Fahrenheit or below); will work in the warehouse building as well as ALL facilities (indoor and outdoor). Material exposure – moving mechanical parts Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry between 50 to 55 lbs. Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3-point contact on a regular basis when assigned to perform work duties Ability to use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, and handle scanning objects in one position or in a repetitive motion for an extended period of time. Ability to stand for long periods of time
Hours & Workdays
1 st Shift (6:00am - 2:30pm) Overtime and Weekends, may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
