Purpose
Provide daily and strategic leadership to Student Affairs staff and assist with a large volume of highly complex administrative matters with a university wide scope and assist with long range strategic planning and meeting goals.
Responsibilities
PROGRAM OVERSIGHT: Provide general oversight of the Office of Student Engagement, which consists of Admissions Initiatives (Outreach & Recruitment; Path to Admission through Co-Enrollment), the First Year Experience (New Student Orientation; First-Year Interest Groups; Transfer Interest Groups), and Student Success Programs (Foundation Scholars; UTurn; Wellness). Collaborate with offices within the College and across UT including, but not limited to, COLA Dean's Office, Development, Division of Student Affairs, Undergraduate Admissions, and Undergraduate College to advance the mission and priorities of OSE. SUPERVISION: Recruit, hire, supervise, and coach approximately five direct reports and provide support to a team of approximately ten full-time staff. Approve timesheets, offer professional development opportunities, setup recurring check ins with staff members. Ensure communication of policies or changes to all employees. SPECIAL PROJECTS: Lead OSE in the articulation of student learning and development outcomes; coordinate assessment projects related to LA 101, student employment, and student leadership development. Conduct ongoing assessment and evaluation of programs within OSE to make data-driven decisions related to program delivery and services. Support Associate Dean for Student Affairs and College leadership on program assessment and data projects, such as SACSCOC accreditation and other student services assessment. STUDENT LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT: Serve as Staff Advisor to Liberal Arts Council, which is the official student voice and governing body for the College and comprised of an executive board, leadership team, and general body members. Manage funding process for Sponsored, Registered, and Liberal Arts-affiliated student organizations; create policies and develop a formal system for student organization leaders to request and receive funds. Provide support to OSE staff with recruitment, hiring, and training of Peer Mentors, Dean's Ambassadors, and Wellness Ambassadors. INSTRUCTION: Serve as the Instructor of Record for LA 101P, which is a course designed for first-time in college students. LA 101P focuses on academic success, health and well-being, and career engagement, and is designed to help students transition into the University. Serve as a Staff Facilitator for the First-Year Interest Group and Transfer Interest Group program. Other functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in higher education, administration, or related field and five years experience in team management. Experience in assessing programs for effectiveness. Supervisory experience and ability to foster and maintain a positive team-oriented environment. Demonstrated self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and with minimal supervision in a high-volume office. Ability to think strategically, creatively, and collaboratively. Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and effectively manage details of several concurrent projects. Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality. Understanding of and commitment to higher education.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. or terminal degree in higher education, administration, or related field and instructional experience. Experience teaching and developing coursework. Experience with UT systems, including Workday, DEFINE, FRMS, and UT-RMS. Familiarity with UT policies and procedures. Experience with Smartsheet, DocuSign, Adobe, Microsoft Office suite, Interfolio, Tableau, and other related external systems. Project management experience, including planning, creating, and monitoring budgets.
Salary Range
$90,000 + depending on qualifications
