What to Expect

Tesla's Manufacturing Test Engineering group is seeking a highly motivated hands-on Technical Program Manager to drive development of custom manufacturing equipment with mechanical, electrical, controls, and software engineers. As a Technical Program Manager for this team, you'll be part of the group responsible for developing manufacturing testing equipment for Semi trucks and other Tesla products. This is an exciting role where you will interact with product designers, firmware engineers, manufacturing engineers, supply chain, and production. You will interface with cross-functional teams to identify and define product constraints and key change items. You will help to define and drive the development, validation, and implementation of custom manufacturing equipment across various factories worldwide. You will communicate and present project status, highlight schedule risks, motivate the team to meet aggressive deadlines, and develop recovery plans in case of project slips.

What You'll Do

Accountable for creating, maintaining, and communicating schedules and plans for developing and deploying custom manufacturing equipment to meet start of production and ramp-up goals. Drive action with internal and cross-functional teams to successfully complete projects within time, budget, and resource constraints. Track project progress and report effectively on status, blockers, and plan changes, ensuring clear communication with all stakeholders. Identify creative and timely solutions to key program challenges. Track resourcing of projects and drive resource balancing between different program priorities. Advise on and develop systems and best practices for communication and change management. Complete appropriate documentation and ensure data accuracy across Tesla systems (Confluence, JIRA, Microsoft SharePoint, Polarion, SolidWorks PDM).

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience demonstrating exceptional ability and hands-on skills. Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for managing change. Experience creating, maintaining, and communicating schedules. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail. Understanding of design cycles and problem-solving processes. Exposure to electrical test instruments (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, etc.) is a plus.
