Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, Product Owner, OnePay is responsible for leading the strategy and execution of our API reliability, resilience and innovation efforts. In this role, you will partner closely with OnePay and cross functional stakeholders to define and prioritize initiatives to strengthen our platforms performance and scalability. This role will drive forward-thinking solutions that meet the needs of our partners, while ensuring stability and growth.

Essential Responsibilities
Prioritize the product backlog for API reliability, resilience and innovation, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility Collaborate directly with OnePay and internal stakeholders to gather requirements, identify pain points and co-create solutions that drive value and performance Work closely with the OnePay Client Tech, engineering and Digital teams to design scalable and robust API solutions, with a focus on uptime, monitoring and fault tolerance Champion innovation by exploring creative approaches to overcome roadblocks, transforming “no” into “how” without compromising regulatory, security or operational standards Serve as a “subject matter expert” for API lifecycle management, from design and documentation to versioning and deprecation strategies Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, bridging gaps between business needs and engineering realities Lead cross functional collaboration across multiple areas to ensure safe, sound and sustainable product decisions Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance platform reliability, reduce incidents and optimize system performance Stay ahead of trends in API technologies, resilience patterns and product practices to help shape the strategic direction of the platforms Ensure the product backlog is well-defined, prioritized, and aligned with the product strategy. Oversee the product development process, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of output and features. Work closely with development teams to define user stories, acceptance criteria, and release plans. Manage Agile teams’ dependencies, risks, and value delivery using Jira, Jira Align and other approved tools Maintain Jira Boards based on assigned Epic and Features Define releases and program increments with in Jira and communicate with Agile partners and product Managers. Exceptional communication and facilitation skills to develop reports and clearly articulate challenges, progress and opportunities to multiple stakeholders (key stakeholders, executives) Ensures development stories, acceptance criteria, assumptions, and all related documentation are timely and complete, supporting development, testing, and user acceptance activities. Travel to Synchrony and client locations as needed to Lead discovery sessions, project kick-off meetings, work-out sessions, etc. Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or, in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma / GED and 7+ years of Product / Project Management experience in the credit card, financial services, or technology industries 4+ years Product / Project Management experience in the credit card, financial services, or technology industries SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager Certification Proficiency in Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban). Action oriented – create an environment to leverage agile methodology and deliver continuous benefit to the business teams during the project Proven experience in problem solving and negotiated solutions Ability to travel
Desired Characteristics
Expertise in gathering and defining product requirements Credit card, consumer finance, payments, financial services, or retail services industry experience. Solid communications, relationship building, and collaboration skills. Demonstrated solutions delivery experience, with relevant examples that improved performance and customer experience Knowledgeable on financial services, payments industry trends, competitors, emerging technologies, and companies technical knowledge (financial services) customer experience focus Proactive, self-starter and collaborative leader Experience managing offshore resources, organizing and motivating diverse cross-functional teams. Strong business acumen and superior decision-making skills Strong cross-functional team player with the ability to work seamlessly across a matrix organization. Familiarity with data encryption/PII data protection standards, and related technologies. Facilitate product demos in the Developer's forums. Creativity, enthusiasm and energy with a strong customer "can do" attitude and result oriented. Exercise close partnering with Synchrony’s internal compliance teams to adhere to the company’s development and release processes.
Grade/Level: 11
The salary range for this position is
90,000.00 - 155,000.00
USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements
You must be 18 years or older You must have a high school diploma or equivalent You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act. New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
