Facility Security Officer
We are seeking a Facility Security Officer (FSO) to lead our industrial security program and manage classified facility operations in compliance with applicable DoD and IC regulations. In addition to core FSO responsibilities, you will serve as the interim COMSEC Manager, overseeing cryptographic keying material, communications security, and related procedures.
This role requires regular interaction with U.S. government agencies and program stakeholders, including DCSA, NSA, DoD, and intelligence community representatives such as the NRO. You'll play a key role in keeping us continuously compliant and inspection-ready across classified operations.
As Impulse grows, COMSEC responsibilities will transition to a dedicated COMSEC Manager. You'll help lay the groundwork, mature the processes, and hand off the program smoothly.
Responsibilities
Facility / Physical Security (FSO Duties)
Operate and maintain secure spaces (SCIF / SAPF / closed areas), including access control, IDS / CCTV / alarms, visitor procedures, and emergency response plans.
Author and maintain Security Plans, Fixed Facility Checklists, and Emergency Action / Destruction Plans per 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) and ICD 705.
Plan and execute self-inspections; lead DCSA assessments and track closure of vulnerabilities.
COMSEC Management (Interim Responsibility)
Serve as the interim Primary COMSEC Custodian until a dedicated COMSEC Manager is hired.
Manage the company COMSEC account in accordance with NSA / CSS Policy 3-16, DoDM 8523.01, and applicable NSA guidance.
Receive, inventory, safeguard, and destroy cryptographic keying material and Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI).
Maintain all required KMI / EKMS records and report COMSEC incidents.
Oversee an alternate custodian (no Two-Person Integrity required).
Build documentation and train personnel in preparation for transitioning to a full-time COMSEC Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility (existing clearance strongly preferred).
4+ years of experience in industrial / government security, including direct experience as an FSO, AFSO, or COMSEC Custodian.
Proficiency with security systems and tools such as DISS, NISS, e-QIP / eApp, SWFT, and KMI / EKMS platforms (LCMS, DIAS, etc.).
Experience working with any of the following :
32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM)
ICD 705
DoD 5205.07 series
NSA / CSS Policy 3-16
DoDM 8523.01
Experience interfacing with DCSA, DoD, NSA, NRO, or other U.S. government agencies during audits or contract support.
Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to brief executive leadership and government inspectors.
Ability to obtain required CDSE certifications (e.g., FSO for Possessing Facilities, COMSEC Custodian) within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience supporting SCI, SAP, or SAPF programs.
Industry certifications such as :

CISSP
Industrial Security Professional (ISP) NCMS
Certified TEMPEST Professional (CTP)
Certified COMSEC Custodian (CCC) or equivalent
Familiarity with :
Insider Threat Program implementation
Cross-domain solution security
Hardware-centric or classified R&D environments
Export control and ITAR / EAR compliance
