Aptive Resources Aptive seeks a highly experienced Scientific Program Manager to lead and coordinate large-scale biomedical and public health research initiatives as part of National Health, Lung, and Blood Institute Program Management Support Services (PMSS) activities. This position requires deep expertise in scientific program management, the ability to navigate complex technical subject matter, and strong leadership skills to guide multidisciplinary teams in delivering impactful health research outcomes.
The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Scientific Program Manager, you will collaborate closely with scientific program leads, NIH stakeholders, and other PMSS team members to develop strategic, track progress, and ensure the goals are being met.
Minimum Qualifications
15+ years of experience managing and executing projects of scientific nature. 8+ years of experience developing project management processes, tools, and templates, for a federal agency. 5+ years of experience serving as a team or project lead. Bachelor’s degree in appliable field (e.g., science, public health, business, or project management). Master’s degree or doctorate degree is preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Experience with Other Transaction Authorities (OTAs) preferred. Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and project management and collaboration platforms.
Desired Qualifications
Experience managing end-to-end project lifecycles, including planning, resource coordination, scheduling, risk mitigation and quality assurance. Experience coordinating daily activities and deliverables for assigned programs. Experience developing program charters, detailed project plans, and schedules. Adept at planning, facilitating and preparing documentation of working group and meetings, including agendas, minutes, action tracking, and timely follow up. Experience monitoring and evaluating program activities and effectiveness and recommend and implement improvements as needed. Adept at coordinating across disciplines to integrate project management best practice into scientific program execution. Experience overseeing multiple, complex programs and projects, ensuring adherence to standards, scope, schedule, and quality requirements. Understanding of NIH and NHLBI organizational structure.
