We are looking for an Accounting Manager for our landscape company who will be responsible for overseeing all daily accounting functions, managing job costing, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. This role supports project managers, operations, and senior leadership by providing financial insights and managing a small accounting team.

*Job Duties & Responsibilities *

● Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, bank reconciliations, fixed asset tracking and general ledger management

● Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting

● Prepare internal financial reports and work with external accountants for tax filings

● Maintain job costing records and collaborate with Department Managers to track budgets vs. actuals

● Monitor cash flow and support forecasting and budgeting efforts

● Review vendor invoices, client billings, and project-related costs for accuracy and proper coding

● Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including sales tax and contractor licensing

● Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and contingency plans

● Maintain and improve accounting systems, processes, internal controls, reports, and metrics

● Support audits and work with CPA firms as needed

*Job Skills & Requirements*

● Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

● 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction, landscaping, or other service industries, like plumbing, HVAC or electrical

● 1–2 years of supervisory or management experience

● Experience with job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting preferred

● Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices

● Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop or Online)

● Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail

● Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

● Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

● Excellent communication and organizational skills

● Ability to collaborate with field and office staff, and manage multiple priorities
