Senior Accounting Manager
Dallas, TX – onsite 3-4 days/week
**CPA or CPA in-progress required**
One of Vaco's longstanding clients is looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to manage a midsized team and oversee the financials for one of their regions. Looking for folks coming out of larger environments, preferably publicly-traded.
The company itself boasts great culture - Vaco has placed several folks with the organization and received great feedback on leadership and workplace (monthly team building events, big on celebrations, VERY outgoing group.) There is a strong tenure on the team as well (people routinely stay there 5, 10, 15+ years). There is also a potential growth path to Director in the next 2-3 years for the right person.
Compensation: $140-160K + discretionary bonus
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Lead, mentor, and support a small accounting team Liaise with external auditors, tax preparers, and consultants as needed Identify opportunities for automation and workflow improvements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required) 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls Proven ability to manage the close process from start to finish Hands-on experience with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.)
