Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs all routine nuclear medicine procedures, demonstrates anatomy investigation through proper patient positioning, technique selection, administration of radiopharmaceuticals, application of immobilization and safe radiation practices in accordance to department policy and licensure requirements. Determines and orders appropriate radiopharmaceutical required and administers dosage according to protocol. Obtains patient history, reviews patient condition and records dosage administered. Checks consultation request for special instructions from requesting physician and consults with radiologist as necessary. Greets patients, confirming patient identification and introducing self. Confirms procedure site and referring physician orders with patient and explains examination procedure to patient and family, if present. Updates appropriate patient history, including completion of screening and consent forms as required and records unusual conditions/limitations on request. Documents examination time, room number and technical factors and enters into hospital information systems. Ensures accurate and prompt posting of procedure charges into hospital information systems according to department policy and procedures. Performs and records results of dose calibrations and surveys as required and assist physicist to ensure compliance with IEMA license requirements if radioactive materials. Performs visual preventative safety inspection, completes system warm-up procedure as required, records quality control activities, reports dangerous conditions and/or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Assist in interventional procedures as required. Practices sterile and infection control techniques. Maintains necessary inventory levels for assigned room or workstation, rotating stock in orderly fashion and eliminating out-dated items. Keeps work area clean and prepared with necessary supplies. Maintains all records required by policy or State and Federal Regulation related to ordering, receiving, storing, administering and handling of radioactive materials and supplies. Works with management and radiation physicist to ensure compliance with required regulatory requirements of the radioactive material license. Ensures that patient screening procedures and forms are performed in appropriate manner and reviewed and approved by either the pharmacy or a radiologist. Benefits:
