Since 1992, Independent Hill Veterinary Clinic has been dedicated to serving the pets and families of the Manassas community. Our mission is to provide outstanding medical and surgical care to our patients and excellent client experience to their families. We are an AAHA accredited three doctor, small animal veterinary hospital that also accommodates daytime emergencies. We are looking for a Managing Doctor who looks forward to taking on challenging cases, mentoring associates, and collaborating with the veterinary team. The Medical Director is responsible for providing medical leadership for the hospital, managing associate veterinarians, and assuring regulatory compliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine. Our new Veterinarian will have the support of two skilled, licensed, and experienced technicians to assist with dentistry!

Work-Life Balance We focus on work, life, and family balance. Our practice is closed on Sundays, and our DVMs do not have on-call and no after-hour emergency care as cases are referred to a local ER. Our practice closes by 6pm Monday-Thursday, 3pm on Fridays and 2pm on Saturdays. We prioritize having consistent schedules with our DVMs while also having flexible PTO.

Responsibilities

Oversees surgical and medical cases for all doctors while ensuring positive outcomes, accurate estimates, and client communication/education

Responsible for the financial performance of the hospital including revenue and hospital contribution growth as well as managing all hospital expenses

Sees wellness and sick appointments, performs physical examinations, and conducts diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures

Monitors DVM performance, production, and assures current licensure of all DVMs

Educated on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine

Trains all medical staff, including the mentoring of new graduates

Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records/logs

Increase hospital's community involvement through partnering with community leaders and engaging with local support groups to support pet care needs.

Participates in recruiting and interviewing DVMs and general staff members

Maintains and improves medical standards, quality of care, hospital compliance, and AAHA accreditation

The Managing Veterinarian partners with the Hospital Manager in the development and delivery of staff training programs, employee hiring/termination, resolving staff concerns, driving community involvement, participating in technician appraisal, and counseling sessions, and promoting growth and innovation of the practice. The MDVM also prepares an annual planning matrix, operating budget, and capital budget with support from the hospital team and Divisional Leadership.

Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinarian Medicine Doctors (VMD) License to practice medicine in Virginia or the ability to acquire one DEA License

Eagerness/willingness to for surgery and dentistry preferred
