Job description Our client is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager with a strong background in

managing accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance , helping to foster strong relationships with Japanese stakeholders, ensuring smooth financial operations and alignment with corporate governance expectations.

You'll also make an impact by leveraging Silicon Valley’s emphasis on innovation, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making to enhance financial transparency, streamline accounting processes, and drive automation. This balanced approach will be critical in safeguarding financial integrity, optimizing workflows, and ensuring compliance with global accounting standards, ultimately strengthening the company’s financial health and operational efficiency across both domestic and international markets.

The ideal candidate will have

hands-on experience using Oracle or similar systems

and possess a deep understanding of international accounting practices

(IFRS, J-GAAP),

including

multi-currency operations . Experience in

managing fixed assets, prepaids, and accounts payable (AP)

is essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities as Accounting Manager:

Accounting Operations Oversee daily accounting operations, including

accounts payable (AP) management, fixed assets, prepaids, and general ledger activities. Ensure timely and accurate processing of

invoices, payment approvals, and vendor reconciliations. Manage fixed asset capitalization ,

depreciation schedules, and disposals in compliance with accounting standards. Monitor prepaid expenses, ensure proper allocation, and maintain accurate schedules.

Expense Management

Administer and manage expense workflows using Concur or equivalent platforms. Ensure

compliance with company policies and internal controls

for expense reporting and approvals.

Month-end Close & Financial Reporting

Manage month-end close calendar, tasks, and reconciliation checklists. Review and approve journal entries. Review

financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records

in compliance with US GAAP. Track and report on fixed assets, prepaids, and AP aging to provide actionable insights. Prepare financial statements and submit reporting packages

to TMC through their internal system (CONETS).

International Accounting

Oversee accounting operations across

multiple regions and entities, ensuring compliance with local regulations. Manage

inter-company transactions ,

transfer pricing, and multi-currency consolidations.

Tax and Compliance

Support internal and external audits

by preparing necessary documentation and responses. Ensure proper internal controls are in place and adhered to

for fixed assets, prepaids, and AP management. Support the company through filing of income tax returns, property tax, used and sales tax, etc.

Process Improvement

Identify and

implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations , particularly

for fixed assets, prepaids, and AP workflows. Partner with cross-functional teams to develop scalable solutions for international operations.

Team Leadership

Supervise a team of accounting professionals in multiple locations. Foster a collaborative and high-performing work culture. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in

Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. 7 + years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role. Proficiency in

managing fixed assets, prepaids, and accounts payable (AP). Experience

with Oracle and/or Concur

or similar expense management software. Solid understanding of

IFRS, US-GAAP , and international accounting standards. Experience in

multi-entity and multi-currency accounting environments. Advanced

proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and cultures. Japanese language fluency is a plus. Prior experience in a global, fast-paced, or startup environment is a plus.
