The JR Estimator will be responsible for performing detailed quantity take-offs for Traffic Signal, Street Lighting, and Underground Utility plans for a variety of public agencies, including but not limited to Caltrans, LADOT, SCE, LADWP, BSL, and LACPW.

This role plays a critical part in supporting the company's profitability and growth objectives by preparing accurate, timely, and competitive estimates. Key responsibilities include data entry into Comet's estimating software (Trimble Accubid) and compiling final proposals on company letterhead.

The JR Estimator must also be able to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and stakeholders across the transportation and public infrastructure sectors.

*Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* * Experience in the transportation construction industry preferred (e.g., Caltrans Lighting and Electrical) * Familiarity or proficiency with Trimble, HeavyBid, or comparable estimating software * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings * Comfortable working with individuals at all levels and across diverse teams and cultures * Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member * Flexible and adaptable in evolving work environments * Strong attention to detail * Excellent task prioritization and time management skills * Access to a reliable vehicle for job-related travel

*Key Responsibilities:* * Perform quantity take-offs for Traffic Signal, Street Lighting, and Underground Utility projects * Analyze plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate * Enter and manage estimate data in Trimble Accubid or other estimating software * Prepare and submit detailed and competitive cost estimates and proposals on company letterhead * Request, review, and incorporate subcontractor and vendor quotes into project bids * Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as necessary to gather critical project information * Maintain organized bid documentation, including plans, specifications, addenda, and communications * Track and update bid opportunities in the internal system and ensure deadlines are met * Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and executives to ensure estimates align with project and business goals * Assist in value engineering and cost-saving recommendations when appropriate * Monitor and follow up on bid results, gathering feedback to improve future performance * Stay current on industry trends, material pricing, and labor costs to ensure accuracy and competitiveness * Communicate professionally with clients, agency representatives, and internal stakeholders * Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools

*Physical Demands:* * Regularly required to talk or hear * Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms * Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl * Must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds * Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

*Travel Requirements:* * Travel to job sites as business needs require.

*Work Environment:* * Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration * Occasional exposure to extreme conditions at construction job sites * Job sites may have loud noise levels

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
