Construction Estimator

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team. This role is critical in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy civil and infrastructure construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor costs, and will be proficient in leveraging HeavyBid to streamline the estimating process. Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects using HCSS HeavyBid, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop accurate quantity take-offs and pricing. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure estimates reflect current field conditions and construction practices. Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing. Maintain and update cost databases, crew libraries, and historical data within HeavyBid. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs to assess project scope and risks. Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, schedules, and value engineering options. Track and compare actual project costs against estimates to improve future accuracy. Stay current with industry trends, pricing, and construction technologies. Essential Skills

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Experience in construction estimating, preferably in heavy civil or infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with other HCSS products (e.g., HeavyJob, HCSS Safety) is a plus. Familiarity with DOT bidding processes and public works projects. Certification from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or similar organization. Experience with scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project). Work Environment

The team comprises 60 people in total, with 12-15 working in the office. Projects range from $50k to $52M, and the company operates as a Minority/Women Business Enterprise (MWBE). The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, focusing on utility construction, water treatment, drainage, electrical, and gas projects. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $170000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
