Facility Maintenance Technician

Job Inputs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, furniture, and furniture systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Coordinate and communicate effectively with contractors and vendors for facility-related projects and services. Inspect interior and exterior facilities regularly to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and compliance issues. Order and manage inventory of building maintenance supplies and equipment to support operational needs. Adhere to and enforce safety protocols, OSHA regulations, fire safety codes, ADA requirements, and other relevant standards. Operate and maintain hand and power tools, maintenance vehicles, and lifts effectively and safely. Respond promptly to facility maintenance emergencies and service requests to minimize downtime and disruptions. Participate in training sessions, meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance technical skills and operational efficiency. Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to promote a positive work environment and achieve departmental goals. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for reporting and compliance purposes. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned Education and/or Training: High School Diploma or equivalent Vocational training or certification in facilities management, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, or related fields is a plus Familiarity with maintenance management software (e.g., Cherwell) a plus Proficient with hand tools Relevant Work Experience: Experience in facilities management, including hands-on experience with maintenance and repairs of buildings, furniture, and systems Experience with fire safety and security systems, OSHA and ADA regulations, and identifying and addressing unsafe facility conditions Prior experience ordering and managing building maintenance supplies a plus Planning/Organizing/Managerial Knowledge: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills Self-motivated, independent, and reliable with a strong work ethic Performs work ethically Identifies and removes barriers to productivity Follows through on assigned work and responsibilities Demonstrates attention to detail and commitment to doing quality work Effectively manages and documents time and consistently meets deadlines Achieves the highest standard of excellence by consistently demonstrating accuracy, thoroughness, and effectiveness Recognizes one's own strengths and opportunities for growth Adjusts quickly to new or changing assignments and resources Maintains enthusiasm and energy under difficult or adverse situations Accurately documents repair process, steps taken, and actions performed on vehicles Communicating & Influencing Skills: Ability to read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records Ability to read service and repair manuals Ability to read work orders and understand concerns Provides timely, accurate and thorough documentation of cause and correction Expresses facts and ideas in a clear and organized manner in both oral and written communication Effectively offers support to other team members Listens openly and carefully to others' ideas and suggestions Gathers, clarifies, and applies information while giving full attention to the speaker Consistently earns trust, loyalty and respect of others Applies emotional intelligence in responses and reactions Displays professionalism and remains composed when faced with challenges Demonstrates consistency between words and actions Learns from experience; modifies behavior to be more effective Makes external and internal customers and their needs a primary focus of actions Gathers any necessary information to successfully service both internal and external customers Takes personal responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty Demonstrates an aptitude for customer service Problem Solving: Example: Managing inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment to ensure availability and cost-efficiency, following standardized procurement procedures Example: Handling employee inquiries and requests related to facility maintenance promptly and professionally Example: Handling unexpected equipment failures that require immediate diagnosis and repair, involving complex systems beyond routine maintenance Outputs: Ensure all routine maintenance tasks, including repairs and upkeep of facilities, are completed promptly and to a high standard of quality. Ensure smooth coordination and communication with external contractors and vendors for maintenance projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget. Ensure all facility maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations, fire safety codes, ADA requirements, and other relevant safety and regulatory standards. Identify opportunities to optimize maintenance processes and reduce operational costs while maintaining service quality and facility standards. Actively participate in team meetings, contribute constructively to discussions, and foster a collaborative atmosphere among colleagues to enhance workplace morale and productivity.
