The detailed job description includes anticipating the needs of the surgical team, assisting with teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists, serving as a role model to new employees and other staff members, communicating effectively with patients, staff members and physicians, adhering to standards, demonstrating appropriate and correct case preparation, establishing and maintaining sterile field, applying basic knowledge of instrumentations to multiple surgical cases, performing technical duties involving care, preparation and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms, and completing unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. Required qualifications include Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or Certified Operating Room Surgical Technician (CORST) certification by National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or Technician in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) certification by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Preferred qualifications include additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job.
