Detailed job description includes anticipating the needs of the surgical team, assisting with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists, serving as a role model to new employees and other staff members, communicating effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians, adhering to standards, including but not limited to: unit and hospital policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals, demonstrating appropriate and correct case preparation, establishing and maintaining sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment independently, applying basic knowledge of instrumentations to multiple surgical cases, performing technical duties involving care, preparation and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms in order to provide a safe and effective environment, and completing unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. Required qualifications include Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or Certified Operating Room Surgical Technician (CORST) certification by National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or Technician in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) certification by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Preferred qualifications include additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. Physical demands include ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.
