Williamson County Animal Shelter Front Desk Position

Reporting directly to the Administrative Supervisor, responsible for front-desk operations and customer service at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS). Examples of Work Performed: Provides training and support to Animal Services Specialists team members in the performance of administrative duties related to animal intakes, and adoptions. Assists with scheduling, delegation, and monitoring of Animal Services Specialists tasks and provides disciplinary actions under the guidance of the Administrative Manager. Assists with departmental document control and retention. Performs front-desk reception and customer service. Processes intake of stray, owner-surrendered, community cats, and rabies-quarantine animals. Reviews animal microchip data: may contact microchip company, veterinarian and/or registered pet owners to facilitate return. Records documentation of animal health, behavior, medication, and vaccination status. Reviews and processes applications and provides counseling for adoptions and fosters. Processes payments, issues receipt and balances a cash drawer. Performs data entry and maintains electronic documentation files. Receives and distributes deliveries of supplies and donations. Performs janitorial duties to maintain the administrative areas of the shelter. Follows all safety measures and policies, including proper animal restraints and reading animal behavioral cues, and promptly reports any safety incidents to leadership. Provides supervision to the Animal Services Specialists in the absence of the Animal Services Supervisor. Performs special duties as assigned. Organization Relationships: Reports directly to

None Physical Demands: Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, repetitive motions, and standing. Position involves lifting and carrying of animals and equipment up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and exertion of up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force to move objects. Position involves hearing and/or seeing alert cues regarding animal and staff security. Position involves maintaining composure in a high-stress environment. Environmental Factors: Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment. Frequent handling of animals, including contact with waste and blood. Exposure to unpleasant smells and a noisy and wet environment associated with a shelter. Exposure to animals that are agitated or injured that may attempt to bite or scratch. Position involves working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Position involves working with distressed individuals. Irregular Hours: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement. May be deemed essential personnel for emergency situations at the discretion of Director. High school diploma or equivalent Two (2) years of administrative experience, preferably in a customer-service role Demonstrated experience in a lead, trainer or supervisor capacity One (1) year cash-handling experience Working knowledge of specific job-related technology Valid driver's license required within thirty (30) days of employment Preferred Qualifications

Four (4) years of administrative experience, preferably in a customer service role Working knowledge of Texas State Codes related to types and retention of local government records Experience in animal behavior, health or welfare field Bilingual (Spanish) Employment Testing
