Electromagnetic Effects Test, Analysis and Design Engineer

The Boeing Electromagnetic Effects Group is seeking a broad range of experience levels, including Associate, Mid-Level and Expert level Electromagnetic Effects Test, Analysis and Design Engineers. This position requires the candidate to work out of San Antonio, TX. The engineer will be responsible for providing Electromagnetic Effects expertise as ship side support for VC-25B out of San Antonio, TX. The engineer will be part of a larger EME organization that encompasses a vast portfolio of aircraft across Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS). Other duties may involve performing analyses, developing test procedures, conducting tests, troubleshooting, and writing and reviewing test reports in accordance with MIL-STD-461/464 and DO-160. The engineer will also provide EMI/EMC expertise to design and modification efforts of products being developed throughout Boeing. This position is for an experienced Electromagnetic Effects Engineering professional with an understanding of the role electromagnetics plays in the aerospace industry. Primary job responsibilities will include: Provides shipside support of VC-25B and other aircrafts. Develops and implements an assortment of tests for VC-25B and other aircrafts. Develops and validates Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) requirements and architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms. Defines and conducts critical tests to validate performance of designs to requirements. Performs complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design for E3 performance. Work (under minimal direction) to achieve Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of electronics, wiring and structure. Interface with manufacturing complex E3 aspects of the designs, coordinate with suppliers to assure compatibility at the system level. Report achievements and issues to program management and customers. Supports project management by providing coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews. E3 includes the following environments: Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Lightning, High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Precipitation Static, Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP). Other job responsibilities may include: Perform Nuclear Hardening, HIRF/Lightning, RF COSITE, and Antenna Coupling analyses and test Coordinate, test, and verify TEMPEST requirements with teammates, customers, and system architects through the development and sustainment of various Boeing systems Develop and implement Test Automation for aircraft modifications Apply EMI engineering technology experience to document and solve complex problems Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analyses to predict component, interconnects, and system performance and to optimize design Apply conversion, correction, and antenna factors to EMI/EMC analyses and test Work on a cross-functional support team and communicate clearly in various review boards both internally & externally This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science Must have previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry Must have previous experience of MIL-STD-461/464 and/or DO-160 EMI/EMC experience Must be familiar with the Electromagnetic concepts (such as RF isolation, shielding, grounding, and filtering) Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time as required 2 or more years' related work experience Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 5 or more years' related work experience (Mid-Level) 9 or more years' related work experience (Expert Level) An ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a Master's/PhD in electrical engineering Active U.S. Security Clearance International Association for Radio, Telecommunications and Electromagnetics (iNARTE) Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer Certification Previous experience in TEMPEST analysis, test, and requirements development Knowledge of digital signal processing Knowledge and experience generating Power Quality test procedures and test reports Hands-on experience with MATLAB Familiarity with Software tools: LTSpice, System Vision, PSPICE, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and Mentor DX Designer and Expedition Experience with MS Office tool suite Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility and also a possible Sign-On bonus if qualified.
