Technical Writer Position
CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Writer within our Intel sector advancing the national security mission through cutting edge technology. You must have a passion for keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology advancements and leveraging your knowledge on a highly collaborative team to deliver state-of-the-art capabilities. You will be responsible for bridging the gap between complex technical information and user understanding, especially within the context of information technology. In essence, your responsibilities will include creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for technical products, systems, and services. This position is located in our Washington DC office. Your future duties and responsibilities: Develop and maintain documentation: Create user manuals, technical specifications, process documentation, online help systems, tutorials, and other supporting materials. Research and information gathering: They research technical topics and gather information from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), such as engineers and developers, to ensure accuracy and completeness. Translate complex information: Simplify complex technical information and jargon, making it accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences. Organize and structure content: Structure and organize technical content logically for easy reading and comprehension, ensuring clarity and consistency. Edit and proofread: Review and edit their own work and content from other team members to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guides. Incorporate visuals: Create or work with illustrators to include diagrams, screenshots, and other visuals to enhance understanding. Collaborate with teams: Work closely with engineers, developers, product managers, quality assurance teams, and other stakeholders throughout the documentation process. Gather and respond to feedback: Collect user feedback to identify areas for improvement and update documentation accordingly. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Experience: Shall possess a minimum 6 years of experience related to the specific labor category with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years. Education: In addition, shall possess a degree in an area related to the labor category from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Security Clearance: TS/SCI with CI Poly Required: Demonstrated experience writing documentation, procedure manuals, and training materials, developing comprehensive documentation, writing user-friendly content of broad target audience, turning insights into language for user success, and translating complex information into simple, polished, engaging content. Highly Desired: Demonstrated experience working with engineers to improve user experience, refining content, and creating visuals and diagrams for technical support content Excellent Writing and Editing skills: Conveys complex information accurately and clearly. Strong Technical Aptitude: Quickly grasp and understand complex technical subject matter. Attention to Detail: Technical documentation requires a high level of accuracy and precision. Research Skills: Effectively research, analyze, and synthesize information is essential. Audience Analysis: Understand target audience's technical knowledge and tailor content accordingly. Collaboration and Communication: Effectively communicating with SMEs and team members is crucial. Familiarity with Documentation Tools: This can include word processing software, content management systems, and specialized authoring tools. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $81,360.00 - $156,600.00.
