Tourism Ambassador
Gloucester County seeks dedicated part-time applicants to join the Parks, Recreation & Tourism team as a Tourism Ambassador. This position is responsible for conducting day-to-day operations at the Visitor Center, Gloucester Museum of History, and Colonial Courthouse walking tours. Flexible work hours. Multiple positions available. Must be available to work Saturday and Sunday 9:00am5:00pm and occasional weekday/evenings. Candidates may expect an average of 8 hours per week. Under general supervision, the Tourism Ambassador provides coverage for the Visitor Center, Gloucester Museum of History, or floats between the two. Employees may work independently or in tandem with volunteers. Reports to the Tourism, Marketing and Events Manager. Job Highlights
Greets visitors; responds to routine inquiries about restaurants, retail, lodging, attractions, history, etc.; creates a welcoming and engaging experience for visitors. Interacts effectively with fellow employees, supervisor, business owners, the public, and visitors. Conducts opening and closing procedures, monitors visitor flow, and handles basic administrative and cleaning tasks. Visitor Center: Uses a Point of Sale system for purchases at the Visitor Center gift shop. Restocks merchandise and brochures to ensure sufficient quantities and aesthetics; reports low inventory to Visitor Service Coordinator. Gloucester Museum of History: Provides tours of the museum; answers basic questions about exhibits; refers to the Historic Resources Supervisor as relevant. Restocks brochures and limited merchandise inventory; processes and records cash sales. Tours & Special Events: Conducts weekly historic courthouse walkthroughs for safety checks, maintenance needs, and aesthetics; reports incidents and problems to supervisor. Provides scheduled and impromptu tours (~30 minutes) of the historic colonial courthouse circle; uses discretion in selecting topics, tour paths, accommodations, and safety measures; practices and memorizes tour scripts. Uses various technology (computer, AV equipment, projector, Bluetooth, sound equipment, security systems). Works tourism-related vendor exhibits and special events including set-up, break-down, and guest interactions. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma/GED. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with the public. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Special Requirements
Possession of a valid driver's license; possess and maintain a driving record that meets established Gloucester County Driving Standards.
