Healthy Futures Youth Coalition Youth Advisor
Boulder County Public Health Department is seeking to hire a Healthy Futures Youth Coalition Youth Advisor. The Healthy Futures Youth Coalition (HFYC) Youth Advisor will work on a team of two youth advisors, the Healthy Futures Coalition (HFC) Program Specialist, and two AmeriCorps VISTA members. HFYC Youth Advisors' primary role is to plan and facilitate Healthy Futures Coalition (youth and adults) and Healthy Futures Youth Coalition (youth only) meetings using HFYC and Youth Celebrate Diversity (YCD) curriculum. HFYC meetings are held twice a month to address youth substance use and mental health issues identified by young people in our community. Adult members join for HFC meetings to provide support and feedback, fostering strong youth-adult partnerships. HFYC Youth Advisors act as leaders in reducing stigma around substance use and may develop or participate in additional projects focused on youth substance use prevention and wellbeing as well as give feedback on policies, practices, and protocols related to youth substance use. HFYC Youth Advisors will regularly collaborate with Youth Advisors from other BCPH programs. HFYC Youth Advisors attend community gatherings and state-wide conferences to learn new strategies for youth substance use prevention and reducing stigma and to meet other youth leaders. These are year-round positions which will start promptly. Youth Advisors will work in a hybrid format (both virtually and in-person). In-person meetings may take place at three County building locations: Sundquist Building located at 3482 Broadway in Boulder, CO St. Vrain Community Hub located at 515 Coffman St. in Longmont, CO Southeast Community Hub located at 1755 S. Public Rd. in Lafayette, CO This is an hourly, non-benefited position that will work 5-10 hours per week, Monday - Friday in the afternoons/evenings. The position requires availability over summer, after school, in evenings, and sometimes on weekends, including required availability 5-8:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays (this is subject to change based on availability and need). This position is based on the availability of funding, and we cannot guarantee the role beyond mid-2026. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime). Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work. Hiring Salary Range: $24.04 Hourly. Tentative Hiring Timeline: Phone Screening: July 29th. Plan and lead Healthy Futures Coalition and Healthy Futures Youth Coalition meetings in collaboration with the HFC Program Specialist and AmeriCorps VISTAs Participate in required Youth Celebrating Diversity trainings, attend the Youth Celebrating Diversity conference in the fall, and the Shared Risk and Protective Factors conference in the spring (if schedule permits) Support recruitment of new Healthy Futures Youth Coalition members Represent HFYC at meetings, community outreach events, schools, youth serving organizations, and with community partners, as needed Attend weekly HFC/HFYC Team meetings Attend one-on-one meetings with the HFC Program Specialist Advocate for youth substance use prevention, harm reduction, and mental health promotion at Boulder County Public Health and in the broader community Develop resources and participate in outreach and educational activities that support youth substance use prevention, reduce stigma, and promote youth mental health and wellbeing Coordinate and collaborate with other Boulder County Youth Advisors/Youth Research Assistants, youth-oriented leadership groups, adult partners, and participate in monthly Youth Advocating for Youth (YAY) Convenings Other duties as assigned Performs related work, as required May be reassigned during emergency situations Required Qualifications

In this position, we are looking for a minimum of current enrollment in high school or a GED program OR recent high school/GED graduation (must be between 15-20 years of age at the time of hire). For applicants over 18, a job offer is contingent upon passing a criminal background investigation with fingerprinting. Having a criminal background does not necessarily disqualify applicants from being hired unless the charge is related to child safety and welfare. Special Requirements: Youth Advisors are responsible for ensuring they can get to work and attend in-person meetings or events via their own transportation or by utilizing public transport - an EcoPass is provided to Youth Advisors. Bilingual language skills (i.e., English/Spanish) are preferred but not required. Must be able to work remotely, come into the office, and attend in-person community events
