Utility Damage Prevention Foreman
This is an onsite role based out of West Monroe, LA. If the selected candidate is outside the area, they will be required to relocate. Relocation assistance is not available for this posting. Working as a lead locator responsible for using specialized equipment to locate Entergy's underground electric facilities in compliance with the 811 Dig Laws and doing so in a safe, timely, and accurate manner. Job Duties/Responsibilities Be a safety champion; obey all safe work procedures, perform daily Hazard Assessments, maintain vehicle inspections, attend all required safety meetings, complete all safety mandated training and report any safety events including near misses. Develop and maintain proficiency using the locating equipment, locate underground facilities and mark them in compliance with the 811 Dig Law to avoid dig-ins by excavators. Develop and maintain proficiency using all ticket management computer-based applications such as GT Viewer, Epoch Field and DigTix and document all locating jobs in these applications. Monitor excavation activity in the area and develop and maintain working relationships with these excavators to coordinate work with them and to ensure a minimum amount of damage to Entergy's underground facilities. Identify and report on discrepancies between underground facilities in the field and those in Entergy's electronic mapping systems. Report damage to Entergy's underground facilities immediately. Be able to respond to emergency call outs when a locator is out for the Damage Prevention group. Be able to work in a team environment which involves taking on additional work when other areas of overloaded, sharing best practices, and fostering unity and collaboration. Perform Dig In investigations and fill out report in work order management system. Assist Supervisor as a lead in the field. Minimum Requirements Minimum education required of the position High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum experience required of the position At least 8 years of underground locating experience. Preferred: 8 years' experience in reading electronic underground mapping Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position The ability to use conductor locating and fault-finding devices, as well as associated computer applications. The ability to communicate with customers, excavators, city inspectors, police, and fire department officials. Valid driver's license and the ability to operate a company vehicle. The ability to interpret construction drawings and Entergy's underground system drawings. Must be self-motivated and a team player. The ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and the ability to mitigate the hazard. The ability to maintain company equipment properly and safeguard assets. The ability to meet and converse with customers in a professional manner and understand the importance of delivering high level customer service. The ability to recognize process improvement opportunities and willingness to implement them. Working knowledge of underground electric and fiber system Working knowledge of AM/FM/GIS systems Working knowledge of locating work order management systems. Experience in customer service / customer contact roles.
