Electric Locator
Responsible for using specialized equipment to locate Entergy's underground electric facilities in compliance with the LA Dig Law and doing so in a safe, timely and accurate manner. Be a safety champion; obey all safe work procedures, perform daily Hazard Assessments, maintain vehicle inspections, attend all required safety meetings, complete all safety mandated training and report any safety events including near misses. Develop and maintain proficiency using the locating equipment to locate and properly mark underground facilities in compliance with the LA Dig Law therefore avoiding dig ins by excavators. Develop and maintain proficiency using Dig Tix (Ticket Management System) to document all locating jobs as well as computer-based applications such as GT Viewer and Epoch Field. Monitor excavation activity in the area. Develop and maintain good working relationships with excavators which will help when coordinating work and eliminating possible damages to Entergy's underground facilities. Identify and report any discrepancies between underground facilities in the field and those in Entergy's electronic mapping systems. Report damages to Entergy's underground facilities immediately. Respond to emergency call out during duty rotation for the Damage Prevention group. Be able to work in a team environment which involves taking on additional work when other areas are overloaded, sharing best practices, and fostering unity and collaboration. Minimum education required of the position: High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum experience required of the position: 0-2 years' experience. Preferred Experience: Experience in underground locating, Experience in Entergy's underground system, Experience in reading electronic underground mapping. Good mechanical aptitude and ability to use conductor locating and fault-finding devices, as well as associated computer applications. Ability to communicate with customers, excavators, city inspectors, police and fire department officials. Valid driver's license and the ability to operate a company vehicle. Ability to lift 150 lbs. Very good interpersonal skills. Ability to interpret construction drawings and Entergy's underground system drawings. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Must be self-motivated and a team player. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and can mitigate the hazard. Ability to maintain company equipment properly and safeguard assets. Ability to meet and converse with customers in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering high level customer service. Ability to recognize process improvement opportunities and willingness to implement them. Desired: Working knowledge of underground electric system; Working knowledge of AM/FM/GIS graphical systems; Working knowledge of the DigTix ticket management application; Working knowledge of computer and communication applications; Working knowledge of service territory; Experience in customer service / customer contact roles.
