Non-Certified Police Officer

Performs a wide variety of police and law enforcement activities including police patrol, investigation, traffic regulation, and other traditional and non-traditional related law enforcement activities. Works under the direct supervision of a Training Advisor, Police Officer and other Police Personnel, with additional supportive supervision from the command staff of the police department. The City of Hallandale Beach is currently accepting applications for the position of Non-Certified Police Officer position. There is a mandatory orientation & Civil Service examination required for this position. Police orientation/examination date & time: To Be Announced. Obtain certification from the Federal Emergency Management Administration, National Incident Management System IS-700 Introduction to NIMS, IS-800 National Response Plan, IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command, and IS-200 Incident Command for Single Resources. Any person who, after July 1, 1981, pleads guilty or nolo contendere to, or is found guilty of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, shall not be eligible for employment or appointment as an officer, not-withstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication. Per Civil Service Rules Sec. 21-151: The board may refuse to examine, or after examination may decline to certify as eligible for employment, any applicant for the following reason(s): If the applicant, within the six (6) months prior to the date of the examination, failed to attain a passing grade in an examination for the same or a like position. The City pays 100% of the premium cost for employee and 70% for dependent(s). Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) The City provides General Employees with a Health Reimbursement Arrangement account to help cover the cost of the annual health insurance deductible. The monies are not taxable, are pre-funded by the City and can be used to pay any qualified in-network medical deductible or prescription copays that are incurred under the medical plan. Depending on the health insurance plan election you make, the City contributes either $2,000, $3,000 or $4,000 to your HRA account on a Fiscal Year basis. The HRA funds are not rolled over from year to year and cannot be used for dental or vision. Dental Insurance The City provides employees with dental insurance through Aetna Dental, of which two options (Dental DMO and Dental PPO) are offered. The City pays $5.00 per month towards dental coverage premium. Vision Program Vision coverage on routine eye exams, eyeglasses and contact lenses is available through Aetna Health Care.
