Histologic Technician

The primary function of the Histologic Technician is the preparation of microscopic sections of human tissue for evaluation by a Pathologist. Specimens include surgical, autopsy, bone marrow, and cell blocks. The process includes embedding, microtomy, and routine staining of all specimens submitted by the Pathologist/Pathologists' Assistant. Essential Functions

Embeds and properly orients surgical, autopsy, and cytology cell block tissue for microtomy. Cuts routine tissue specimens according to defined protocols. Performs routine and special staining of microscopic tissue sections. Assists the pathologists with OR frozen section cases. Qualifications

Required Associate's Degree CRT-Histotechnician, Certified (HT) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology 1 Year required Physical Demands
