Facility Support Staff

The Facility Support Staff, under the supervision of the Cole Auditorium Assistant Director/Technical Coordinator, is responsible for the tasks associated with the maintenance and cleanliness of the Cole Auditorium, primarily in the evenings and on weekends. At times, the position is unaccompanied during evening and weekend events and will be expected to greet and assist guests as necessary. Hours must be flexible and are dictated by monthly facility events schedule including evenings and frequent weekends as late as 1 a.m. as necessary. Duties and Responsibilities of the Position: 1. Work closely with Day Facility Support Staff Member. Assist Cole staff members in all areas of preparation for all facility events. Assist caterers and other outside vendors when requested and available. 2. Ensure that necessary safety measures are maintained for attendees. Provide excellent customer service to rental clients and attendees while ensuring rental contract specifications and college/facility policies are followed. 3. Lead or assist other staff members in crowd management, facility securement, and various other related duties for all events. 4. Set up tables, chairs and/or other necessary items to prepare for events according to provided setup information and customer requests. Must be willing to download mobile setup app. 5. Clean restrooms and kitchen including mopping floors, cleaning toilets, sinks and mirrors, replacing toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap, disinfecting and sanitizing surfaces, as well as other necessary tasks to prepare for the following day. Complete light bathroom cleaning tasks during events as allowable. 6. Clean floors including baseboards and kick plates as events allow. Address floor and wall stains immediately. Clean and maintain windows. 7. Collect garbage during and after events and empty garbage cans in outside bins. Replace garbage bags and wash garbage cans, as necessary. 8. Monitor outside of building to include cleaning walkways/picking up trash daily. Report any needed repairs/maintenance. 9. Submit work orders through Richmond Community College's online help desk request program for long-term and larger maintenance issues to be handled by campus maintenance. 10. Perform routine checks of and provide light and preventative maintenance around the building and on all equipment. Clean vents and change light bulbs above ladder height using appropriate equipment. Report any issues. 11. After training, set up A/V and other facility equipment to assist or in the absence of other Cole staff. 12. Using college vehicle, serve as transportation to and from hotel and local destinations for show cast and crew as necessary. 13. Other duties as assigned. Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated dependability by work performance and attendance. Ability/capacity to learn to operate necessary equipment, to lift 50+lbs, to work independently (in building alone). Must be comfortable working at heights 20ft and above and extended periods standing. Minimum Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalence required. Prior janitorial experience in education, business, industrial, or similar setting required. Valid NC driver's license required.
