Senior System Administrator

SAIC is seeking a Senior System Administrator in Middletown, RI. Responsibilities include: Performing high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex Operating Systems, workstations, and servers. Coordinating, directing, and performing complex software installations and upgrades to Operating Systems and layered software packages. Scheduling installations and upgrades and maintaining them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Continually monitoring and tuning multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensuring workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities. Ensuring data/media recover-ability by developing and implementing system backups and database archive operations. Developing, implementing, and promoting standard operating procedures for system software configuration management including Operating Systems and Commercial Off-The-Shelf software. Conducting hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established plans, standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Incumbent develops and implements new standards, policies, and procedures. Incumbent in this job works closely with software developers, cybersecurity, and configuration analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented. Qualifications include: Bachelors and six (6) years or more experience; Masters and four (4) years or more experience. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have strong planning, organizational, and time management skills. Must have strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a team of peers. Must have a strong understanding of Windows 10 and 11 Operating System including but not limited to: Microsoft Management Console, user group permissions, Explorer permissions, registry changes, firewall changes, OS installs, software installs, and system configuration.
