Postdoctoral Research Associate Or Research Scientist
There is an opening in Prof. Soner Sonmezoglu's research group for a postdoctoral research associate or research scientist specializing in the design, fabrication, and testing of optical microresonators and silicon photonics components, such as waveguides, gratings, power splitters, multiplexers, and demultiplexers. The research project will focus on developing an innovative biomedical imaging system to assist in the diagnosis of widespread diseases, including cancer. Qualifications: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or a relevant field. Demonstrated experience in the analysis, designs, simulations, fabrications, and measurements of optical microresonators and other photonic components, such as grating couplers and waveguides. Proficiency/familiarity in silicon photonics, nano-photonics, or related topics. Background/familiarity with the heterogeneous integration of micro-scale devices and components (optical, electrical, and mechanical). Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Strong publication record in relevant scientific journals. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Applications should contain a CV and a cover letter briefly describing the candidate's research interests. The review of applications will begin immediately, and the position will remain open until filled. The initial appointment is for one year, with the potential for extension depending on sustained excellence in meeting the expectations. Position Type: Research Additional Information: Northeastern University considers factors such as candidate work experience, education and skills when extending an offer.
