JFEW Scholars Program Coordinator & Mentor

The JFEW Scholars Program at Hunter College seeks a full-time program coordinator and mentor. The JFEW program supports highly qualified, high-potential students who are interested in building careers focused on social justice. Whether they are interested in community organizing, social work, public policy, or advocacy of different kinds, the program provides scholars with exposure to professional pathways, career development workshops, funded summer internships, and experiences of close mentorship and community. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Student Success, the JFEW Scholars Program Coordinator & Mentor will develop programming for the scholars, mentor them, and help them secure appropriate summer internships. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Serve as a mentor to students within the program by conducting one-on-one and group sessions, in an effort to help them navigate towards academic success, as well as identify and prepare for post-graduations career or graduate school Organize and facilitate workshops that offer students an opportunity to learn about social justice issues, career opportunities, and develop career readiness Plan and coordinate events such as pizza parties, panel discussions, and excursions that fosters community building amongst students within program Liaise with external and internal stakeholders to secure appropriate summer internships for program juniors Track student stipend payments and maintain up to date information on the program's budget Plan, and coordinate all aspects of the senior trip or trips, including but not limited to day trips, overnight trips, etc. Organize on and off campus events and attend events to promote the JFEW program around the college Recruit and assist with the selection of a new cohort each year, with particular recruitment effort during the Spring term Attend bi-weekly meetings with the Associate Provost, and monthly meetings with other "Mid-Career" Program Directors Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree preferred, and work experience related to higher education, social justice, and public policy. Compensation and benefits: Salary commensurate with education and experience, $52,267 - $68,004.
