Postdoctoral Researcher - Nutrition and/or Obesity/Human Physiology for Precision Health (NPH)
At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Pennington Biomedical is located within state-of-the-art research facilities on a 222-acre campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Nutrition and/or Obesity/Human Physiology for Precision Health (NPH), under the mentorship of Dr. Eric Ravussin and Dr. Leanne Redman. Pennington Biomedical Research Center is one of the six clinical centers of the NIH Common Fund's Nutrition for Precision Health (NPH), powered by the All of Us Research Program. The overall goal of this study is to assess the relationship between diet and health and to explore how individuals respond to foods and dietary patterns. Objectives of the study: Examine individual differences observed in response to different diets by studying the interactions between diet, genes, proteins, microbiome, metabolism, and other individual contextual factors. Use artificial intelligence (AI) to develop algorithms to predict individual responses to foods and dietary patterns. Generate new hypotheses linking nutrition and diets to health and disease. The study at Pennington Biomedical is under the direction of Drs. Ravussin and Redman but the NPH consortium encompasses 14 academic institutions. Pennington Biomedical's award details can be found here. This training opportunity will provide hands on laboratory and clinical research encounters accompanied by interactive seminars to train new investigators in the knowledge and skills necessary for establishing an independent research career. The selected applicant will also be involved in other research projects lead by Drs. Ravussin and Redman.
