Director Of TRIO- Student Support Services

The Director of TRIO- Student Support Services is responsible for coordinating and evaluating program initiatives that focus on providing academic support and increasing retention, transfer, and graduation rates of low-income, first-generation, and students with disabilities. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of TRIO/Student Support Services operations and attainment of program goals. NOTE: Annual appointments are subject to annual reauthorization of federal funds under the Department of Education. Continued appointments are contingent upon the availability of funding. Examples of Duties

Essential Functions: This position is responsible for ensuring that the overall plan of operation, budget, and evaluation of the SSS programs is carried out as indicated in the grants. Administrative Duties

1. Prepare and submit all necessary U.S. Department of Education reports on time. 2. Direct the program throughout the project year. 3. Establish and maintain liaison with the U.S. Department of Education Program specialists. 4. Represent the Student Support Services program at all appropriate meetings both on and off campus. 5. Establish policies and procedures for staff and participants. 6. Establish, evaluate, and revise information and reporting systems. 7. Recruit, interview, train, supervise, and evaluate project staff. 8. Develop and manage program budgets. 9. Authorize expenditures of federal funds and monitor program budgets. 10. Conduct required and appropriate number and types of contacts/appointments to facilitate the successful performance, retention, and graduation of a designated caseload of participants and assists in same manner for all SSS students. 11. Recruit program staff as vacancies occur. 12. Maintains communication with campus business office and other departments on campus. 13. Plan and direct SSS program advisory committee meetings. 14. Recruit and maintain a caseload of 50 project participants and provide them with services and activities as indicated on their individual service plans. 15. Assist students with scheduling of classes. 16. Oversee the printing, production, and distribution of SSS counseling and publicity materials. 17. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for SSS program. 18. Formulate long range plans to ensure effectiveness and quality in meeting SSS program goals. 19. Track how many students utilize the services provided. 20. Assist with program recruitment including making presentations and discussing benefits of the program with students, parents, and Halifax Community College colleagues. 21. Assist with program application/interview packet completion. 22. Maintain and report out monthly accurate data related to program requirements including student participation, demographics, and baseline information. 23. Perform other duties outlined by supervisor within the parameters of the U. S. Department of Education guidelines. Professional Development

24. Must maintain current knowledge of trends and new developments in federal TRIO (SSS) Programs. 25. Must complete TRIO (SSS) training workshops annually. 26. Must receive required hours of professional development as indicated in the HCC Personnel Manual. Committees

Must provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers 32. Attend national, state, and regional educational and professional conferences. Minimum/Required Qualifications

Required:

Master's in Counseling, Social Work, Education, or related field. Experience with the design, implementation, coordination or management of services to at-risk individuals. Previous experience in TRIO programs or experience with similar programs is preferred. How to Apply
