Park Maintenance Worker
Maintains City parks, facilities, equipment, and grounds; cleans and repairs park facilities; conducts routine landscaping and facilities maintenance tasks; and performs other related duties as assigned. Examples of Duties: Assists in ensuring the City's parks, facilities, grounds, and/or rights-of-way are safely and properly maintained for use by the public. Maintains assigned park and/or building grounds; performs mowing, edging, weed eating, and other routine landscaping functions; trims trees and removes tree stumps. Cleans park facilities including public restrooms, pavilions, parking lots, and water crossings; empties trash bins and picks up debris from grounds; removes graffiti. Repairs and maintains park equipment including benches, tables, fences, and playground equipment; performs painting and/or basic plumbing and electrical repairs. Participates in preparing and maintaining City athletic fields; rakes, tills, and/or stripes ball fields. Assists with special projects including installing and removing playground equipment and/or protective surfaces. Provides assistance to other City departments including preparing for special events and/or moving furniture and files. Operates and maintains a variety of departmental equipment and tools. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Typical Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Two years parks maintenance or landscape experience Valid Texas Driver's License or the ability to obtain one Irrigation experience is a plus Assessment: Candidates being considered must be able to drive and back a pickup with a trailer attached. An assessment to ensure proficiency will be done before any selection is made.
