Cochise College provides an invaluable service to the College and our students by providing experience of their profession in our classrooms, laboratories, and studios. Instruction is provided via multiple mediums, including face-to-face courses and blended learning throughout Cochise County and our entire services area. Cochise College serves the residents of Cochise County from two campuses and four centers throughout Southern Arizona with panoramic views of five different mountain ranges. The college has been recognized nationally for its cost, return on investment, and high success rate; providing over 90 general and technical education programs leading to a variety of workforce certificates and associate degrees. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). Duties and responsibilities include teaching assigned courses to enrolled students and managing a diverse population of students in a classroom, laboratory, or online environment. Develops, prepares, and implements lesson plans; conducts pre- and post-assessment of students; evaluates, assesses, and plans for students' educational and social needs. Collaborates with other faculty and staff in assessment of teaching strategies and the effectiveness of the instructional program to help promote a culture of continuous improvement. Maintains student records, statistics, and other pertinent information as required by the college and the department. Resolves issues relevant to area of responsibility and scope of authority, referring more difficult or complex problems to the appropriate Department Chair, Dean, or other College official. Performs other related duties as assigned. Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective, and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty, and staff, and the public. Employees will follow all college policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines as they relate to this position. Education and experience requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an institution accredited by an institutional accrediting body of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education; three years of experience as a Registered Nurse; Arizona Registered Nurse Licensure; Arizona DPS Fingerprint clearance card for clinical access; and successful completion of Cochise College's Medical History and Physical. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures; knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of research-based adult learning principles; knowledge of trends, developments, and new technologies affecting education; knowledge of developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum and instructional approaches; skill in using authentic assessment to evaluate students' needs and progress; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner; ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations; ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail; ability to work independently while contributing to team environment; ability to analyze problems, identifies solutions, and takes appropriate actions to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision making processes; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students, and the public. Preferred qualifications include teaching experience in nursing education and history in areas of medical and surgical nursing. Work is primarily performed under limited supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical classroom, laboratory, office, or online setting, with appropriate climate controls. Evening or weekend work may be required. Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem solving skills are important. Reports to: Director of Nursing.
