The Associate Faculty of Reading provides an invaluable service to the College and our students by providing instruction for a diverse student population. Instruction is provided via various media, including face-to-face classes, synchronous teaching through a live-streaming platform, and online throughout Cochise County and our entire services area. Compensation: $900 per equated credit unit. Duties and Responsibilities

Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position: Teaches assigned courses to enrolled students and manages a diverse population of students in a classroom, laboratory, or online environment Develops, prepares, and implements lesson plans; conducts pre- and post-assessment of students; evaluates, assesses, and plans for students' educational and social needs Completes all college and department reports on or before the due date/time Responds to communications from students and colleagues within 48 hours Collaborates with other faculty and staff in the assessment of teaching strategies and the effectiveness of the instructional program to help promote a culture of continuous improvement Maintains student records, statistics, and/or other pertinent information as required by the college and the department Resolves issues relevant to area of responsibility and scope of authority, referring more difficult or complex problems to the appropriate Department Chair, Dean, or other College official Performs other related duties as assigned Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties efficiently, effectively, and competently, striving for improvement and excellence in all work. Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Employees will follow all college policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines as they relate to this position. Education and Experience; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience Requirements: Master's degree in Reading, Adult Education, or Elementary Education or Master's degree with 18 or more graduate credits in Reading from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education OR A Bachelor's degree plus three years teaching experience and state teaching certification for Elementary or Secondary Reading/Reading Specialist Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures Knowledge of trends, developments, and new technologies affecting education and the Reading program Knowledge of research-based adult learning principles Knowledge of developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum and instructional approaches Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications and Learning Management Software Skill in using authentic assessment to evaluate students' needs and progress Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with attention to detail Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment Ability to effectively identify and analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve using independent judgement and decision-making processes while maintaining strict confidentiality related to sensitive information Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students, and the public Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a classroom, laboratory, office, or online setting under limited supervision. Evening or weekend work may be required. Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting the majority of the time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
