Water Plant Operator
The Utility Department is seeking qualified applicants for a Water Plant Operator. Water Plant Operator is responsible for the daily operation of the water treatment plant; monitors water levels and makes appropriate pump changes, collects water samples, performs chemical tests, makes changes in chemical feed rates, diagnoses equipment problems and determines remedial action and performs general plant maintenance. This position may include shift work and weekends: evening shift works 3 - 11 PM and night shift works 11 PM - 7 AM. $1.00 additional per hour for evening and weekend hours. Minimum qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in the operation of a water treatment plant and facilities is desirable. Must have and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license and city insurable driving record. WPO Class III requires a Kansas Department of Health and Environment Class III water operator license. WPO Class IV requires a Kansas Department of Health and Environment Class IV water operator license. Starting Rate:
$22.41 per hour depending on certification level. $1.00 additional per hour for evening and weekend hours.
