Per Diem Clinical Pharmacist Opportunity
Riverside University Health System has per diem Clinical Pharmacist opportunities available with the Emergency/Critical Care/Inpatient departments of the Medical Center located in Moreno Valley, CA. Shifts are 10-12 hours, nights primarily, but may rotate through days as needed, with a minimum of one shift per week required (additional hours are available - up to 40 hours per week). The candidate pool created from this posting may be used to fill future per diem vacancies; all interested candidates are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates for ED/CC positions will have: PGY-2 Critical Care or Emergency Medicine Specialty Residency (strongly preferred) OR PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency with 3 years of concentrated experience in the Critical Care or Emergency Dept. setting Per Diem classifications are distinguished from regular classes in that they receive additional compensation in lieu of County fringe benefits. Per Diem work assignments are flexibly scheduled or on an as needed basis. Duties and Responsibilities related to this position: Provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services in the emergency room and critical care setting. Actively participate in resuscitations, traumas, and emergency response such as Code Blue, and Code Stroke. Respond to RRT (Rapid Response Team) activations which include all areas of the medical center. Respond to SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) call; prepare, and dispense appropriate prophylactic medications and provide medication consultation to patients in the unit response area. Perform dose verifications and distribution duties as needed. Review medication orders for appropriateness, identify drug-related problems, medication safety issues, etc. Serve as the pharmacotherapy expert in the ED setting and perform in-services/education accordingly. Provide supervision to ED pharmacy technicians as needed. Perform patient counseling and medication histories. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from a School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm. D.). Pharm D. is required for all per diem positions currently. Experience: One year of pharmacy residency preferred. Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Experience: Three years of professional-level experience as a pharmacist in a hospital or healthcare facility. License or Certificate: Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Licentiate in Pharmacy issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy and fulfillment of the continuing education requirements. Possession of a current and maintained Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate issued by the American Heart Association. Knowledge of: Federal, Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, and DHS laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to patient care and dispensing of legend and non-legend pharmaceuticals and poisons; good customer (physicians, nurses, and patient) service; professional standards and practices. Ability to: Provide quality pharmaceutical care; communicate clearly and effectively; work cooperatively with other staff and healthcare providers; organize, and manage routine and new responsibilities; retrieve and process patient and medication information; properly supervise and direct the work of supportive pharmacy personnel.
