Plate Maker, Trim and QC

Core capabilities include: Sheet-fed Offset Print - Fulfillment / Distribution Logistics Dynamic Digital & Large Format Print - Packaging Design & Print Mailing - Marketing Promotions Bindery & Finishing - Promotional Products Online (e-commerce) Solutions - Workflow Automation Solutions Position Summary: The Prepress Proofing and Platemaking Technician is responsible for processing digital files for print production, ensuring accuracy and printability, producing high-quality proofs for client approval, and making printing plates for offset presses. This role is critical in ensuring final printed materials meet customer specifications and company quality standards. Key Responsibilities: File Proofing Review files for completeness, correctness, and printability (bleeds, color profiles, image resolution, fonts, etc.). Create digital or hard-copy proofs for internal review and customer approval (PDF proofs, Epson color proofs). Platemaking Operate Computer-to-Plate (CTP) equipment to image and process printing plates Inspect plates for accuracy, resolution, and quality before releasing to pressroom. Archive digital files and plate data according to company standards. Perform basic maintenance and calibration of platemaking and proofing equipment. Quality Control & Workflow Maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail throughout the workflow. Monitor job ticket instructions, color targets, and imposition layouts. Ensure all materials produced adhere to company SOPs, customer requirements, and press specifications. Communicate with production staff regarding schedules, priorities, and any identified issues. Maintain an organized and clean working environment. Qualifications: Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Experience with CTP systems a plus (e.g., Kodak, Heidelberg, Screen, Agfa, or Esko). Familiarity with offset and digital, print processes a plus. Skills & Competencies Knowledge of PC Windows and MAC OS Knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat). Lifting plates/materials up to 40 lbs. Working around chemical-based platemaking equipment. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
