Biocore has an immediate opening for a full-time BIOMECHANICS ENGINEER. The right individual will support research and analysis focused on improving American football player performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of football-specific movements and training methodologies. This role involves leveraging data from in-game, practice, and training environments to provide actionable insights for coaches, athletes, and front offices. American Football Performance Full-time, exempt employee. In person at offices in Charlottesville, VA. Willingness to travel up to 10% of the year. Advanced degree in one of the interrelated disciplines of sports biomechanics and/or kinesiology, biomedical engineering, or mechanical engineering including demonstrated experience with biomechanics, sports performance, data collection, and prior management of research projects. Analyze player movement, technique, and performance metrics using biomechanical principles and data from various sources (e.g., motion capture, wearable sensors, video analysis). Collaborate with coaches, trainers, and athletes to identify key performance indicators and areas for improvement. Develop and perform analysis to identify causal factors that influence speed, power, agility, and other performance-related metrics in football players. Work closely with Biocore team in designing tools, dashboards, and reports to deliver performance-oriented insights geared to elite football players and coaches and trainers. Design and execute research studies to evaluate the effectiveness of new training protocols, equipment, or techniques on player performance. Interpret complex data and translate findings into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholders. Present results to internal teams and external partners, including coaches, sports scientists, and team executives. Stay up-to-date with the latest research in sports science, biomechanics, and American football performance. Demonstrated knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology, with a focus on movements critical for football. Fluency in biomechanics and its application to athletic performance. Experience with data collection and analysis systems such as marker/markerless motion capture, force plates, and athlete tracking technologies. Statistical knowledge required for design of experiments and data analysis. Computer literacy, including proficiency in data analysis programming using Python, R, MATLAB, or equivalent. Strong knowledge and experience in American football, either as a player, coach, or trainer. Experience working with athletes or teams to improve performance based on data and research. Ability to critically think and problem-solve in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Ability to analyze data, consolidate, and distill it into key results and outcomes. Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to present to a range of audiences. Organized, proactive, and self-driven, able to work both independently and as an integral team member.
