IT Specialist

Biocore is seeking a hands-on, solutions-driven IT Specialist to support and scale our growing technology infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys working across platforms, and is passionate about integrating innovative technologies to drive operational excellence. The IT Specialist will provide the underlying information technology support to enable the company to successfully conduct day-to-day operations and to expand capabilities through integration of innovative technologies. This position reports to the Business Operations Manager. Employment Type Full-time, exempt employee In person at offices in Charlottesville, VA Position Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (IT), Information Systems (IS), or related field Extensive understanding of Mac OS and Windows OS Proficient in Microsoft core technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, IIS, SQL, SharePoint, Outlook, Office 365, and Teams Management of cloud and SaaS services Excellent planning and coordination skills with multiple teams Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytic and critical thinking skills Highly flexible and adaptable U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident only Demonstrable experience in network infrastructure and architecture; workstation setup, management, and maintenance; IT security and documentation Knowledge & Experience Network infrastructure and architecture Workstation setup, management, and maintenance Security Documentation Preference given to candidates with: Small company or lab-based experience Experience in cloud technologies such as AWS SSO responsibilities/experience Facility structured wiring installation and maintenance Experience with video capturing equipment One or more certifications in networking, security, and/or Microsoft 365 A strong security mindset and pen-testing experience, e.g. through labs, red teaming, etc. Compensation Competitive salary with comprehensive benefits package (includes medical, dental, vision), and a performance-based bonus program.
