Learning Experience Designer III

The Learning Experience Designer (LXD) III is responsible for collaborating with business partners to analyze business needs and to design learning solutions that have meaningful impact. This role works as part of a team that is responsible for the design and delivery of learning experiences, including Instructor Led Training (ILT), Virtual Led Training (VLT), in-person, eLearning and micro learning. Provides performance support, using a variety of learner engagement tools such as scenario-based, hands-on skills-based practice, storytelling, simulations, adaptive learning, and peer-to-peer interaction. The Learning Experience Designer III applies Adult Learning Principles and learning design methodologies, such as Analysis Design Development Implementation Evaluation (ADDIE), Human-Centered Design, reverse-engineering, and Agile, to create learner-centered, interactive, engaging experiences. Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), serves as a resource and mentor for other staff. Works independently in the designs and development of creative, learner-centered learning experiences and programs, modules, and materials including ILT, VILT, simulations, micro learning, videos, interactive digital learning (eLearning) modules, games, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, job aids, participant and facilitator guides, case studies, infographics, and other related deliverables. Designs storyboards and prototypes. Works collaboratively obtaining team input, buy-in and approval as appropriate. Collaborates with subject matter experts (SME), stakeholders, and leaders to understand business needs and recommends effective learning solutions. Performs needs analysis to determine knowledge and skills gaps. Independently creates project plan (timeline, resources, budget) and manages project end-to-end. Proactively monitors project status, follows up with key stakeholders, ensure deliverables are completed, identifies and resolves barriers, and keeps department management up to date with progress and status of project. Creates formative and summative assessments to determine knowledge transfer. Partners with the LMS team for LMS implementation, tracking, and system reporting. Proposes communication strategy, timeline and draft materials, partners with team management on finalizing and implementation. Evaluates learning solutions through surveys, performance data, and other relevant metrics and reports on training effectiveness and return on investment (ROI). Facilitates virtual and in-person instructor-led training (including New Employee Orientation, New Manager Orientation, and Leadership Development) and conducts train-the-trainer sessions. Stays up-to-date with current trends and best practices in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, and Learning Technologies and recommends process and program improvements. Collaborates with other learning professionals to share knowledge and best practices; participates in Communities of Practice. Applies subject expertise in evaluating business operations and processes. Identifies areas where technical solutions would improve business performance. Consults across business operations, providing mentorship, and contributing specialized knowledge. Ensures that the facts and details are correct so that the project's/program's deliverable meets the needs of the department and organization policies, standards, and best practices. Provides training, recommends process improvements, and mentors junior level staff, department interns, etc. as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered. Master's Degree in Instructional Design. A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, developing, and delivering in-person and online training courses. Experience with: Engagement tools, Adult Learning principles, Microsoft Office Suite, facilitation best practices for people development and business processes, and training technology that offers alternatives to in-person delivery such as Adobe Connect/WebEx and other related tools. Experience with online course development software, e.g., Articulate 360, Camtasia, Vyond, Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with Learning Management Systems, creating Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) (xAPI preferred) package, uploading, and testing courses. Ability to manage learning experience projects end-to-end, including project plans, scope, timelines, review cycles, and managing client expectations. Ability to measure and evaluate training initiatives. Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving skills. Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts. Strong knowledge and ability to apply adult learning theory and instructional design methodology to content, tools and program. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Certification in instructional design or performance consulting, or related Learning and Development discipline.
