Financial Crimes Strategist

Our customers represent the hottest verticals in the financial service industry such as neobanks, challenger brokers, gaming and wallets. TabaPay is a highly profitable rocketship that processes billions of dollars each year. As the Financial Crimes Strategist within the Fraud and Risk team at TabaPay, you will own the end-to-end execution of transaction monitoring operations for fraud and anti-money laundering (AML) investigations. You will manage operational queues, conduct investigations, and refer activity where applicable. You will utilize your subject matter expertise to recommend alert strategy modifications. As this is a data driven role, you are comfortable working with data in applications such as Excel to support investigations and recommendations. While a large component of this role is operational, you will also have the opportunity to iterate on transaction monitoring processes to decrease handle time while increasing risk coverage. Given you will be joining a growing program at a quickly scaling company, you are comfortable working within ambiguity in an independent fashion. What You'll Do
Review, investigate, and disposition fraud and AML transaction monitoring alerts Utilize data analytics and tools to proactively identify and analyze fraud and AML patterns. Investigate accounts to identify fraudulent merchants, card testing, account takeover, and other fraud vectors Conduct anti-money laundering (AML) investigations from beginning to end, including conducting transaction analysis on open source and public records research in various jurisdictions File Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) Conduct investigations on merchant accounts to support financial partner requirements Collaborate with stakeholders to create fraud prevention policies, procedures, and protocols. Help maintain fraud detection strategies and business rules What We Are Looking For
Must be comfortable working within ambiguity and energized by the challenge of solving difficult problems At least 3 years of investigation experience in financial crimes compliance or fraud prevention operations Experience building new processes from the ground up for transaction monitoring Proven experience in developing, testing, and refining rule sets for transaction monitoring and AML investigations using specialized fraud detection tools Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques Fraud/AML experience in payments, e-commerce, banking, or fintech environments mitigating digital/card not present fraud The ability to concisely communicate on complex topics to clients and internal stakeholders in both a written and verbal capacity Proficiency in Microsoft Excel This position is hybrid at our Palo Alto, CA HQ. The pay range for this position is $115,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. For remote candidates, the pay range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000. Benefits
