Project Manager III Director of Production/Design/Consultant Project Management This position will oversee the management of consultant design projects to assist in delivering the Work Program to provide safer and more efficient transportation for the State of Florida. Broadway Ave. Bartow, FL, 33830 Annual Salary Range: $55,179.86 - $71,709.23 Your Specific Responsibilities: Manages design projects under close supervision of a unit manager. These projects are assigned to consultant firms and are rural highway capacity projects, interstate resurfacing projects, urban arterial resurfacing projects, intersection improvement safety enhancement, bridge painting, drainage improvement, landscaping, maintenance repair, bike/pedestrian improvement and other similar type projects. Manages projects in the production phase having minimal project visibility, impact, or risk; and requiring reporting and communication with the department senior management. Coordinates phases of work between consultants and other disciplines (Right of Way, Testing Lab, Traffic Operations, Planning, Drainage, etcetera) to maintain schedules and projected production letting dates. Coordinates review of work packages of consultants such as Line & Grade submittals, Initial Plans Review, Final Plans Review, Structure Plans, Bridge Development Report, Bridge Hydraulic Recommendation, Pond Siting Report, Pavement Constructability, and other various technical report and submittals as required from the Design consultant. The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: Florida Department of Transportation (Department) Project Management policies and procedures. Principles, practices, laws and regulations governing the project development and design of transportation facilities. Engineering design, construction, production and/or operations. Problem solving and research techniques. Skills in: Using engineering tools, equipment and/or instruments. Monitoring project schedules and coordinating phases of design. Reviewing, analyzing and negotiating contracts, claims or time extensions. Managing multiple priorities and making timely decisions in order to keep projects within budget and meet department requirements. Developing scope of services and staff hour estimates and negotiating staff hours. Reviewing technical data. Ability to: Work with the public, consultants, government officials and regulatory agencies to maintain effective working relationships. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Analyze and interpret technical data. Utilize a personal computer. Prepare and review technical reports. Other Job-Related Requirements: Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a very short timeframe and serve on the Transportation Emergency Management Team. Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or its equivalent and two years of continuous employment experience or two years of higher education with a cumulative of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours.
