Utilities Operator Trainee
The City of Phenix City is seeking a Utilities Operator Trainee to join our team. This position offers a competitive salary range of $16.10 to $21.78 hourly. The role is based in Phenix City, AL, and operates on a full-time basis within the Utilities department. The closing date for applications is continuous. The Utilities Operator Trainee will be responsible for monitoring control panels, interpreting meter and gauge readings, adjusting water flow through plant gates and valves, and maintaining logs of gauge readings. The role involves performing scheduled maintenance and repairs on pumps and generators, collecting water samples, and conducting tests as prescribed by ADEM. Additionally, the trainee will study technical literature, participate in on-the-job training, and perform various grounds maintenance and housekeeping tasks. Qualifications include a high school diploma and the requirement to obtain a Grade IV Water ADEM Certification within three years of hire. The position demands knowledge of water treatment processes, municipal water systems, and city procedures, along with the ability to read complex documents, perform mathematical calculations, and communicate effectively. Computer skills and the ability to work as part of a team are also essential.
